Another cool remix of The Moon by MadMath! This one actually sounds a little mellower than the previous version for some reason. I like them both, but I think I'm with Mad--the first one is still the best!

Actually it's more like an actualisation of the first one than a new remix. I even asked for the deletion of the first one...
The instruments are brighter and sounds really better in my opinion. I'm still not convinced by my own drums, and maybe i'll change them soon, be sure i'll keep you informed about a third version ;)
Thank you once again !
Edit : Here I am ! NOW I am convinced by my drums, and happy with the whole thing !!! I guess it's the final version you can now hear :)
It's got a great beat, and you totally had me jamming to the rhythm. I can imagine this with some interesting variations on those string harmonies; not to say that I don't totally dig it as is, and I've never really been that into the Hip Hop genre, so...well done! The brief interlude of sparseness near the middle is pretty cool; it's one of the few times when you can really hear that sweet bass line. I'd be curious to see (hear?) what kind of lyrics you would come up to go along with this.
I was kind of hoping for a little more variety in the harmony progressions. The combination of brass and strings just work so well together...
Thanks i appreciate a lot your review! Thanks mate! I worked a lot in this one :P
So you're saying you're emo...?
This sounds pretty decent, and your chord progression is somewhat reminiscent of Pearl Jam. The lyrics aren't bad at all, but the singing sounded less emo (or screamo) and more bored/disinterested.
This is right trippy, man. If misery went on an acid trip through the 60s, this is definitely what it would sound like. I especially like the very dramatic ending; that's an appropriately creepy music box progression you've got there. I also think that the drums sound pretty darn good. Did you sing the lyrics? They words themselves are pretty catchy, but I did think it sounded kind of nasally. Eh, maybe it's just me. Good stuff, mate!
Phenomenal Trance
I was so happy to hear the flute reprise at the end (that I was expecting) that my brain nearly melted. I'm not really sure how fond I am of the sudden echoing ending. I feel as though I would have been more impressed if it had possessed a greater stereo effect for the flute's echo, but it certainly isn't worth knocking any points off just for such an aesthetic personal preference.
This is an excellent collaborative work, and the overall length is decidedly impressive. I'm a bit surprised at the current score, but a few more like-minded voters will push it up over 4 and beyond. Keep doing what you're doing, Codbarley. I love it. Mutual kudos to taiji...gotta love that flute progression!
Mmm, I like it!
You've got some really cool instrument samples in here, man. The overall beats are cool and syncopated; pretty unexpected and original ideas overall. Your note slide effects are particularly trippy...not to mention effective. The cymbal crashes add quite a bit of treble, but they seem to fit. They might be a little on the loud side, but I think it works pretty well.
The only thing that sounds even remotely off is the place where it loops, and that's mainly because it sounds like that ending slide transition is maybe cut off a fraction of a second too soon when the song starts over. Then again, actually making a smooth loop transition can be a bitch and a half, so taking any points away for that would be ridiculous. :)
I've listened several times through now and have enjoyed every minute. I think you could have squeezed out at least another minute of epicness for this tune, but you definitely held your own for two minutes here. It's like a slightly dark mix of orchestra and classic arcade goodness. Nice work!
Ha :)
I'm really happy you like this one.
About the loop... yeah you are totally right, the only software the loop sounds perfect is the one I'm composing on ;) But theorically it works !
Maybe I'll try to create third minute to make it a song in a near future :D (seriously !) I was rather inspired so it shouldn't be too dificult.
Thank you very much Chrono, your honnest reviews are always appreciated.
A pretty decent chiptune
It's original, so you certainly get props for that! The mastering sounds pretty decent, and I would like to hear this as accompaniment to some kind of pixel-based game...possibly the kind where you collect/combine items to do...something. Like save a king, maybe? XD
Overall, this is a solid tune. I'm not really a fan of the build near the end, but I like how you come back in with the secondary instrument at the end of it. Speaking of ends, the way you finished it off creates a nice variance loop transition with the way it progresses up the scale rather than down. Nice work.
Thanks for the review !
It was a small piece of work with no high pretentions, just trying to create a good melody with nothing around.
So I guess it's a matter of taste, you can like it or not !
And I'm still open to put my music in video games, he he he ;)
Thank you once again for your opinion.
My first impression...
...is that zero bombers really don't like you, man. We'll have to work on fixing the damage that they've done here because this is a pretty solid piece of music.
After reading Xenophaje's review and your subsequent comments, I definitely have to agree that this would make a really great boss loop! The one thing that really stands out for me is your use of stereo channels...a little thing I like to call "stereocity". This track's got it in spades, and it sounds excellent!
On the downside, I'm not really liking how 'in your face' that snare is compared to the rest of the percussion. At first I thought it was the snare itself that I didn't like, but I think it's actually just the volume of it that I find to be off-putting in most instances. When there's lots of snare it feels especially overwhelming, but hey...that's just me. :)
Overall, I really dig the mix you've got here, and I was really disappointed to see that it had a score of like .9 when I arrived! You deserve better than that, and I'm going to do what I can to see that it happens. Respect.
Yes. Receiving zeros is really annoying, Being under 1/5 after three votes is making you feel like unrespected. Actually, it's even discouraging. I'm not asking for top ratings, but something fair would help me to realize what do the song worth.
But I guess it won't stop so...
I'm glad you liked it, I was quite proud of the result, so it's nice to see it's appreciated. About the snare... I guess you are right :) It's really a kick in the face. I'll try to diminish the volume of it, and will make an edit if it's better.
Thanks again for your time, encouragements and advices.
PS : I'm still open to propositions for a boss stage, ha ha :D
Interesting stuff you've got here
This is definitely synth Trance, alright. I have to agree with some of the previous posters; this does sound somewhat reminiscent of Basshunter. That being said, you did a lot of things right even if the progressions may seem a little generic. Not to mention the fact that folks mentioning Basshunter in comparison to your music is not a bad sign.
You put this together well and it doesn't sound too busy, so there's a feather in your cap right there. It's a little short, but the beat is as solid as you could ask for, and since you got me to bop my head to it you get definitive props. The song could probably stand to be a little more up-tempo, but then it would be even shorter, so...double-edged sword there.
Good stuff overall, and keep on cranking out the jams!
It's easy to just lose myself in the music
This is a fabulous piece, man. You've got some great core samples, and I absolutely love the transitions. The beats are sweet and solid, and I'm almost dancing even as I write this review (it's not helping, but I don't care lol). This is a very chill Trance piece you've got here, but there's a nice hard-hitting edge that really ramps up the epicness level.
Fives and Tens all the way.
Thanks man. :)
