An absolutely gorgeous pixel art submission, and the animation has an appreciable level of subtlety and fluidity to it. I was initially getting Alice in Wonderland vibes, and I can still easily imagine her having all kinds of strange adventures as she slumbers. Excellent use of the full 16-color palette, and your application of light and shadow really creates a sense of comfort and warmth.

Looking forward to seeing what you create next! Talk about an impressive first unveiling.

VampireDev responds:

Thank you! I definitely wonder what kind of strange adventures she is having in her dreams.

My first reaction was "Zoinks!" That was shortly followed up by "Jinkies." Now I'm just thinking to myself: "Rose ruys reem rawfully ramiliar..."

I'd love to say more, but I'm busy eluding capture by entering random doors in a hallway and exiting other doors within that selfsame hallway. The gang like totally believes we're being chased by the ghostly apparition of an alien pirate ninja who transforms into a mummified were-vampire with a fetish for sparkly jewels and fistfuls of cash every blood moon, but...it's probably just Don Knotts in a mask. Again.

Dang, why you gotta be so hard on the poor NG server? The Fulpinator is totally gonna start docking her wages...

Seriously, though--good stuff here, man. The struggle is REAL! Kim Kardashian's got nothing on Friday Night Funkin' when it comes to breaking the Internet. :3

He's clearly the wheel deal, but hopefully his ego isn't overinflated. I'll bet he's getting really tired of all these puns right about now. :3

Really digging the design work on this dude, and his sidewall revolver looks awesome...even if I have no idea how it could possibly function in reality. Thank goodness that's not what this is! Lots of nice little touches, like the belt buckle and string tie, not to mention a very aesthetically pleasing sidearm.

Your wordplay/portmanteau naming convention is as on point as ever with Treadshot. Love the level of imagination and skill behind your work, man! Just wanted to let you know, and - as always - I'll be looking forward to the next design.

jouste responds:

really kind words! thanks a lot I really appreciate the amount of work you put into this review. I'll keep at it!

*highfives

This is how I would envision Santa if he were more like Lloyd Christmas(!!) and decided to trade his big-boy sleigh and eight reindeer for a child's sled. Hopefully you've seen Dumb and Dumber, or the reference won't land.

If he were on a saucer sled, I would have made a Christmas Vacation reference. *shrug*

All that silliness aside, I find your seasonal pixel art to be delightfully adorable, and I love the way his bushy beard is whipping over his right shoulder! Ho ho, whoooaaa--!

Cyberdevil responds:

What a suitable name that was. :) I probably did once upon a time, though barely remember the two were also known as Lloyd and Harry now!

Hehe. Saucer sled next year maybe!

Thank you! Definitely wouldn't be as dynamic without that beard!

Crazy cool mockup, and this would make an amazing game! The world is ready for its next great hero. I mean hey, if a common earthworm can be one...

I also just kind of want there to be a super attack called the Tater Tornader, where he spins around like a whirling dervish and fires off a salvo of omni-directional spuds. :P

ChazDude responds:

I'd be happy to receive your ideas/advice should this game somehow come to fruition!

Took a stroll through your other art subs, and while I generally liked what I saw, this is by far your most ambitious pixel offering. There's just no wasted space here, and between the adorable character poring over her tome, the exceedingly high level of detail, and all of those gorgeous lighting techniques, you have managed to craft a truly masterful piece of art!

The candle's flame is much larger than what I would typically expect, but I figure that maybe she used a bit of her alchemical prowess to make it burn all the more brightly. I kind of wish that it had a less uniform shape, especially since fire is such a uniquely flickering element, but that's really my only critique. Amazing job!

EdiUzuki responds:

The flame was disputing my attention with the book on the table, is easy to see wich one win ! Thanks you for accept that flaw as a lore fact ! :D
And thanks for enjoy !

Drums... Drums in the deep.

Honestly, I would say that this is one of your very best works yet! Admittedly, the fingers are still a little off, but unless you draw nothing but hands for months on end, I think they have to be one of the most difficult details to get right. Your line work and coloring are fantastic. The ripple effects in Phyrnna's tail and the jellyfish drums are beautiful, and your use of light and shadow are exemplary, giving the entire image a great deal of depth.

As if all that weren't enough, you deigned to add a subtle, yet highly apropos, background to the character art. While I love seeing interesting characters brought to life, I often cannot bring myself to vote 5 simply because there's a complete lack of anything interesting going on besides the character(s) themselves. The combination of elements and how you still manage to draw the eye to Hibiki and Phyrnna, despite the fact that they're on separate sides of the stage, makes this illustration a real winner in my book! Full marks from me. God bless and godspeed to you and yours in the new year.

When I saw the thumbnail on the front page, I thought that Count Chocula had finally lost his mind and gone full Nosferatu! Despite that not being the case, I absolutely love your cartoon rendition of this monstrously delightful Anti-Claus. Santa isn't the only one who's making a list and checking it twice...

Love the Western duckling and trusty steed design for this, but I definitely prefer the version sans lines. Even when I'm just using solid-color note pads and stickies, I go for the unlined type whenever available. Must be my rebellious, non-conformist nature. :3

I'm just a guy who enjoys a wide variety of artistic pursuits, both professionally and in my free time. Please check out my musical repertoire, and if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to leave a review or send me a message.
