Past, Present, and Future...

NG Deserted Island Contest

First off, my most popular song to date, Called to the Sea, has broken the 60,000 play mark! This is a pretty exciting milestone, and while 60k may not seem like much to some, it feels pretty epic to me. The track itself is just under two years old, and viewership is still going strong. May it continue to do so.

I also made two songs for the 2nd part of the Deserted Island competition, based off of MIDI tracks made by other artists.  The first, based on a @LucidShadowDreamer MIDI file, is titled Echoes of Fading Dreams.  The second, which is based on a MIDI by @Noisysundae is Sytrus Mayhem.

Art-Inspired Music Contest

Secondly, I just released my first ever submission for the Art-Inspired Music (AIM) contest. The image that inspired me to song is titled We Meet Again, by @ErrorCell and made for his ever expanding and  SideTrip series. If you've never encountered his art before, I highly recommend exploring his profile!

As for my own creation, the song inspired by ErrorCell's mindblowing imagery, it's titled Whispers of Remembrance. Regardless of how it performs in the contest, I am extremely happy with the results, and I hope that you will spend a few minutes getting lost within my artistic vision.

Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch 2017

Finally, I want to talk about one more contest. The Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch, or - as it is often called - NGADM. In previous years, this event was hosted by Step and Echo, working alongside many others to make it happen. Unfortunately, they have both been increasingly busy and it simply couldn't happen last year. This year I'll be running the show, and I am seriously looking forward to putting this no-holds barred, audio extravaganza back on the map!

Put simply, the NGADM is a tournament, much like those found in sporting events, only this one is geared toward musical artists rather than athletes.  Auditions will begin on May 28th. After that, the judges will sift through all the entries and the ball will really start rolling!  The Group Stages come after the Auditions, and that further whittles down the competition.  Round after round of punishing musical melee continues until only one is left standing at the pinnacle; the lone champion to have overcome insurmountable odds!

Could that be you?

First of, congrats on the 60K plays! That's really quite something :O!
As you know, I love your latest piece as well ^ ^

I haven't been following the NGADM forum too much! I thought Real Faction was supposed to hold the competition? Sorry for my laziness, but could you give me a quick update on the current situation? Like just what's up with who's organizing it :D (don't waste your time giving me any intricate details, haha)?

I'll try to read through the forum for closer details later :333

Thanksss!!!

Yay! Thanks, man. Definitely feelin' the love. :D

The short version: RealFaction asked me to take the reigns of the NGADM, and I thought it sounded like a super cool gig, so I totally said YES! Mostly due to the fact that he's just got way too much stuff on his plate already, and - as we all know - ain't nobody got time for stress.

Suffice to say, it landed in my lap and I fully intend to make it awesome! I'll be sending out the invites, hosting, posting updates, and acting as a judge/hand of fate. Probably a bunch of other stuff that I'm not yet aware of. lol

Are you thinking of throwing your hat in the ring this year? I know a bunch of folks have already expressed interest, and I'm looking forward to restarting this Newgrounds tradition! Should be fun. ^__^

Thanks for the info! Yeah, that makes sense :D
I'm thinking I probably will. It'll depend a bit on the amount of free time I have ofc. Who knows, I might even collab with someone if it's still allowed in the rules ;]

Did you manage to find people for the positions of "The Great Herald" and "The Journalist"?

(The Great Herald: The one who will post about the contest in newsposts regarding schedule, rules, etc./Journalist: One who keeps track of the tournament and posts about it in their news posts about the results of each round as @camoshark has in the past.).

I know I was nominated for both, so I just want to know if you already found someone willing to do those :)?

I suppose I'd rather focus on participating, myself, but if you've got no one else, I think I can do one of them, since it'll be summer after all.

I believe that you would be a great fit for either of those positions, and it seems like neither one has been determined as yet. Are you interested in being one or the other (or both, if you're feeling particularly ambitious)?

I'm fully prepared to take on one or the other myself, if necessary. And I'm sure it wouldn't interfere too much with your own participation in the contest, nor does it seem as though it would be a conflict of interest. As long as you didn't just write about yourself, that is. (;

Alright, I can do one of them! Whichever one works just fine, I think. Especially since it doesn't stop me from competiting :D

(P.S. wait, is someone else than me also participating in the NGADM?)

Okay, then I think I'll put you down for the Journalist role. The title itself may undergo a name change, with current consideration leaning toward "The Scribe." What thinkest thou, scrivener?

Running with that shouldn't interfere with your own contest experience too much since it's mostly comprised of scores and averages. Feel free to keep it simple or add your own unique flourishes to the posts, as you see fit. And thank you! :D

(P.S. hopefully...)

Jezus did I seriously accidentally write "competiting" earlier? LOL

Alright, that sounds quite nice! We'll see what I make of it. I doubt I'll make it super boring, chances are it'll be weird though :p
And ofc I want to be "The Scribe". Who doesn't? When people ask for my labels in the future, maybe I'll go with "They call me many things, but you can call me The Scribe".

ROFL, you totally did! xD Reminds me of an anecdote from way back in the day when I worked as a concierge at a Best Western motel. I was reading off available room numbers and actually said, "One oh seven, one oh eight, one oh nine, one oh ten." I caught myself right away, and we had a good chuckle over how I suddenly went from 109 to 1010.

So proclaimeth The Scribe! All in accordance with prophecy. And hey--weird is good.
Right? E'rybody be like, "Yo, I'ma totally be dat Scribe!" And I'm like, "No. Lucid has already been appointed as The Scribe. Game over."

That's awesome xD

Alright, seems like it's set in stone then! Precisely in accordance with the prophecy ^ ^

Darn right.
