Everything looks great. Excited to hear some good music soon!

You know it!

I guess I'm in, even though I will most likely be knocked out in the first round, but I will at least give it my best try in my first NGADM.

Who's to say? The important thing is to have fun and try not to stress over the deadlines. I participated myself several times, and it's always been an excellent opportunity for artistic growth.

Hope to see you there in two weeks!

Well, will be waiting for May 28th. So excited!

You and me both!

I'll be sending out a PM to all judges with the game plan for tackling (hopefully) lots of entries. Depending on how many are submitted, I may even decide to split the workload.

So how do i enter? I just post a track and say its for the deathmatch?

When the 28th rolls around, there will be an Auditions thread. You simply post your track in the thread, and...voilĂ !

This will be my first time! I'm crossing my fingers that I make it past the auditions!
By the way, is there anywhere we can view the past competition winners/songs submitted?

-DJ-DG

Then welcome to the musical melee!

You can always scan the news posts of Step (Stephan Wells), who used to host the NGADM along with Echo. In recent years he was able to put together Playlists, and you can find those here: http://step.newgrounds.com/playlists

I'm going to take part in this for the first time ever. :) Bit nervous about the whole finishing a song in 2 weeks thing several times in a row, but I think it ought to be healthy stress to get the creative juices flowing. :3 (If I make it through auditions to begin with!)

I am honored to see you join the fray, Sir Mich!

Throw down the gauntlet.

Fight until your final breath!

None can say what the future may hold...

Can't wait!!

Nor I, brave knight. The battle commences soon!

Good luck to all participating; honestly though, I don't see the point of having tag-teams in the Audio Deathmatch, even as a bystander.

Good luck to all participants, indeed!

They're going to need it...

"Keep in mind that this is a MUSIC competition. We won't judge voice-acting, experimental noise, sound effects, or anything that doesn't count as music."

Does this mean that we should steer clear from dubstep production for the contest unless it's rather melodic in nature? Based on how I recognize some of the judges (if not all) from last year's contest, it seems like that would be more beneficial.

If that is the case, I have no problem with that. Just let me know how I should approach this, since my style varies quite a bit depending on my mood lol.

Thanks!

It would almost certainly be wise to do something more melodic since this contest is based on the full range of musicality. Beyond that, I would say to simply use your better judgment.

Do what comes naturally! And by all means, if the spirit moves you in the direction of Dubstep, do not ignore that spark of inspiration. While I cannot speak for the other judges, I do know that we all cover a variety of genres, and I myself tend to be rather eclectic, both in my own musical tastes and the music I produce.

I hope you found my response helpful. :)

I don't know if it has been stated yet, but I as look, I do not see anything mentioned on how the brackets are going to be assembled. I'm curious what the method is going to be pairing up individuals in the beginning from the audition round. Will it be based on musical style/genre, or will it be like pulling names out of a hat?
Whatever the method may be, after the audition process I would really prefer to have a visible tournament bracket available for everyone to see as this will eliminate any suspicions on how people are paired up. It's also fun to predict the outcome as well by looking at it. Let me know if you need any help putting that together.

I do plan on making up a Tournament bracket, so no worries there! The pairings themselves are going to be entirely randomized, akin to pulling names out of a hat, sans hat.

Hey, I don't even like sports, but I fill out a March Madness bracket every year just for the fun of it. It's always strangely entertaining to watch teams rise and fall. For the NGADM, I want to evoke a feeling similar to Russell Crowe's famous moment in Gladiator: "Are you not entertained!?"

You sir, have brought back much honour to the tradition of NGADM, and you have proven yourself worthy to carry the mantle.

High praise, indeed. To me it is a simple standard; a work ethic, if you will. I take this responsibility quite seriously, and hope to see the NGADM tradition continue for a long time to come.

My hype cannot be contained.

Also, "If you finish a round's track early, you may start another one which you can use for the following round, assuming you make it through."

Assuming this means we can write during the judging period, this helps me out a lot, especially with how busy August is going to be.

I'm excited

Yep, that's a nice little bonus for anyone who's quick on the musical draw. It may not equate to much, but every little bit helps.

Also, good on you for taking the time to comprehensively read all the rules! Not that I mind answering questions, but if they're already explained it takes away time that can be spent doing other NGADM-related things.

work hard but don't forget to play hard, ppl.

Amen to that!

> No revisiting old tracks: Can we finish unfinished track ideas?

Not for the Tournament rounds, those have to be 100% new and original. But for the Auditions, you can submit older tracks or finish any unfinished ones, even enter with a cover/arrangement.

This is gonna be great, first time i participate, GL to everyone :)

May you find glory in the arena!

Sounds Interesting, I'll join!

The battle is joined! Welcome, brave combatant.

So, there will be another NGADM next year? Man I don't know why I didn't signed up before :/

That is currently unknown, though we certainly remain hopeful that there will be a 2018 NGADM!

I have already been told that I must return to the front lines as a competitor next year so that I can team up and collaborate with a particular artist, though I won't disclose who at this time...

Because who doesn't love a good mystery? :D

You're user of the day!

Apparently so! Well, that's pretty cool, I must say. Not to mention rather unexpected. :D
